Ocean State Senior Dining Program
The Ocean State Senior Dining Program (OSSDP) provides a well-balanced catered meal to senior citizens and disabled individuals in a social setting for a suggested donation of $3.00.
Who We Serve
The OSSDP serves senior citizens and disabled individuals. In addition to a hearty meal, nutritional resources including education and counseling are provided. Partnering sites of OSSDP not only provide a nutritionally sound meal for those who may only have access to one hot cooked meal per day, but they also provide stimulation and a sense of community for potentially frail elders and the disabled.
The OSSDP offers three choices: a hot entrée, a sandwich option, or a salad option. The goal of this program is to promote healthy eating, eating locally grown foods, and encouraging people to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Check out our monthly meal calendar below.
The program also administers the senior restaurant meal program where seniors can get a voucher (for a suggested donation of $5.00) to order from a pre-fixed menu at either Newport Creamery in Barrington or IHOP in Middletown. To obtain vouchers, please visit the Edward King House Senior Enrichment Center (35 King Street, Newport, RI), the Barrington Cafe (281 Old County Road, Barrington, RI) or the Warren Cafe (20 Libby Lane, Warren). Please note that certain locations may carry vouchers to only one of the two restaurants.
