Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a seasonal program that normally runs from October-April. Per season, a one-time supplemental grant is sent directly to the heating vendor who then credits the client’s account for the amount specified. Eligible clients also qualify for a reduced electric rate as well as a discount on their telephone bill.

Who We Serve

LIHEAP is designed to help income-eligible clients meet the ever-increasing cost of heating and reduce energy burden. LIHEAP serves income-eligible households that reside in the East Bay area- Barrington, East Providence, Bristol, Warren, Newport, Middletown, Tiverton, Little Compton, Portsmouth and Jamestown.

Key Features

Supplemental grant sent to vendor on behalf of household, reduced rate on electric bill, may be eligible for Appliance Management & Weatherization services.
