Emergency Services – After Hours Phone Screener (EBCAP0294)

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking several individuals to fill its new in-house Emergency Services After Hours Phone Screening Department for our Behavioral Health Services Division. The Emergency Services – After Hours Phone Screeners will work from home and available shifts include 16 hours (4:30 PM – 8:30 AM, Monday through Friday) or 24 hours on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. This position is paid a flat rate per shift for the screener to be available to receive phone calls, regardless if calls are received or not.      

The staff will screen and triage callers who present a crisis or urgent situation in need of immediate Behavioral Health stabilization. He/she must be able to establish and maintain effective communication with clients and/or family members (if appropriate), and coordinate non-urgent follow-up services for the next day, or facilitate urgent services through a hospital or other more immediate venue if critical.  The successful candidate will be provided with thorough training on the Agency’s protocol for referring clients for next day non-urgent visits as well as critical emergency referrals. May occasionally receive calls from law enforcement personnel, EBCAP staff, medical professionals and/or providers for consultation/updates. 

The Emergency Services – After Hours Phone Screener will have a Master’s Degree in a Human Services related field. Rhode Island Independent licensure (i.e., LICSW, LMHC) is preferred, however, is not required.
