WIC Medical Technician (EBCAP0181)

East Bay Community Action Program is seeking a WIC Intake/Medical Technician for our Women Infants & Children Supplemental Program (WIC) program for our Newport, RI location.  The WIC Intake/Medical Technician position is a full time (39 hours) and is 52 weeks per year.   The WIC Medical Technician provides reception service and laboratory support to the operation of the WIC Office. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains confidentiality with all information pertaining to the WIC clients.
  • Responsible for gathering data on each WIC client, such as: heights, weights, and hemoglobin testing.
  • Responsible for hemoglobin pathology screenings on each child nine months of age if in a high risk environment; and no less than once each year on children age 12-60 months, unless previously tested by private physician.
  • Responsible for telephone and in-person reception for WIC Clinic.
  • Schedules of all WIC appointments (certification, follow-up and check pick-ups).
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  •  Medical Technician skills / Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • General knowledge of clerical and office procedures
  • Strong interest in Public Health
  •  Demonstrated ability to work with children and multi-cultural and economically
  • diverse populations.
  •  Cordial telephone etiquette and courteous demeanor.
  • Maintain a current certification in CPR from the American Heart Association.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle, as some transportation
  • may be required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
