Temporary Psychiatric Nurse (EBCAP0144)

East Bay Center a division of East Bay Community Action Program is seeking a full time temporary Psychiatric Nurse for our Behavioral Health Department. The Temporary Psychiatric Nurse will work with a multi-level team for clients at our Barrington location. Provide office based and community based nursing and case management services to adult clients assigned to a health home care team Job


  • In collaboration with the team psychiatrist/prescriber, coordinate, schedule, and administer the Nursing Assessment to determine client’s health. Make appropriate referrals to community physician(s) for further assessment and treatment, and coordinate psychiatric treatment with medical treatment.
  • Provide ongoing health assessment (identify health issues, behaviors, needs, barriers, etc) and all other assessments which are appropriate for the nursing scope of practice.
  • Build relationships with medical providers in the community, which will provide the team with a network of physical health resources
  • Coordinate client access to services such as medical appointments, specialists, hospitals, transportation, housing services and social programs by methods such as providing health care information and contacting relevant programs/services. Provide follow-up as needed. Coordinate client’s treatment with team, as well as his/her primary care physician.
  • Under the direction of the team psychiatrist/prescriber, develop, revise, and maintain medication protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate Community Medication Assistance Program (CMAP) eligibility on uninsured or underinsured CSP clients.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in compliance with State and Regulatory Agency policies and procedures, and with published Center standards.


  • Bachelors’ level Nurse degree preferred with two (2) years of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Current RN license to practice in RI.
  • A valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance due to the amount of community travel.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record and electronic prescribing a plus.
  • Bilingual/bicultural in Portuguese a plus.
  • Must past appropriate background checks.
