Peer Specialist (EBCAP0244)

East Bay Center a division of East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is looking for a Peer Specialist for our expanding community treatment team. This Peer Specialist is a full time (40 hours/52 weeks) position at our location in Barrington, RI.  

The Peer Specialist is to utilize training and personal knowledge/experience of recovery, serve as a role-model for new and existing clients within the Health Home treatment environment, as well as assisting peers in making behavioral and/or physical changes leading to positive lifestyle improvement. 

  • Selectively utilize self-disclosure, as well as role model positive behaviors to inspire hope, share life experiences, and lessons learned as a person in recovery.
  • Assist in the orientation process for new and/or existing peers/consumers requiring mental health and/or co-occurring disorder services.  
  • Introduce and link wellness and healthy lifestyle resources to assist peers/consumers achieve goals, promote personal progress and accountability, and promote community integration.    (individual and family support services)
  • Assist individuals in developing and practicing skills selected and defined on their treatment plans.

 

The Peer Specialist must have own transportation and a vaild driver's license/insurance. Must also be able to work independently.

The Peer Specialist must have a Peer Specailist and/or Wellness Coach Certification through the State of RI.
