JOB TITLE: Americorps Community Resource Assistant

LOCATION: East Bay, Rhode Island.



 

Stipend of $11,400 TYPE: Full Time (1700 Hours Per Year, 40 hours per week)

DEADLINE: 9/1/2010

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assist in expediting access to social services for low income individuals and their families.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This position focuses on connecting participants to community resources. This can be accomplished through a variety of ways, including but not limited to, providing general information and referral and assisting with applications for services.

· AmeriCorps Literacy Coordinator

· AmeriCorps Safety Net

LENGTH OF POSITION:
This position is a one year position resulting from the AmeriCorps* state grant and does not equate to employment with The East Bay Community Action Program. Member will complete a minimum of 1700 hours of service during the period.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS

· A one year commitment is required

· Multi-lingual helpful but not required

· U.S Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

· Ability to work and communicate well with diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.

· Strong computer skills including ability to navigate the internet and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Word.

· Knowledge of various aspects of job searching including creating resumes, online job searching and application, and how to dress and behave during an interview and on the job.

· Familiarity with community resources (or knowledge of how to find such resources).

· Ability to be sensitive, understanding and respectful for clients served.

· Must exhibit good communication, listening, leadership, and organizational skills

· Willingness to be fingerprinted, and complete a *background check. (* required for youth oriented sites)

· Willingness to be creative, flexible, enthusiastic and motivated





 

 

 

 

 

PROJECT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Attend and successfully complete all required training programs

· Complete all related assignments in a timely manner.

· Assist clients with department pertinent applications and department specific outreach.

· Assist participants in acquiring a working knowledge of a variety of community based opportunities and resources.

· Assist with tracking agency participant data

· Assist designated staff with all aspects of assigned department duties.

· Provide accurate and timely reporting of outcomes measures data.

Stipend of $11,400. (Divided and disbursed bi-weekly-considered taxable income)
